Shirley Ernst-survivor: My Story

In November 2009, as a 13 year breast cancer survivor, I walked the Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure walk for the first time in San Diego.  This 60-mile walk raised 9.5 million dollars to support research and breast related care.  I am proud to say that $3600 of that came from my supporters.  Less than two weeks after the walk was over I decided that it was important for me to be involved beyond this first year, so in 2010, as a member of The Pink Angels team, I walked in Boston in July, and then in November I walked in San Diego again.  2011 found me walking in Tampa and then in Arizona, and in 2012 I walked Boston in July and Minnesota in August.  In 2013 I was part of the last Boston walk in July and then joined The Kindred Spirits and walked in Seattle in September.  and I walked in Seattle and San Diego in 2014 and Seattle and Atlanta in 2015, both years with the Kindred Spirits. I walked again in 2016 in Seattle and San Diego, and in 2017 I walked in Seattle in September as well as in San Diego the weekend before Thanksgiving. In 2018 I walked in Dallas and in Seattle. and in 2019 I walked in Boston the first weekend in September and in Seattle the very next weekend.  I was registered to walk in 2020 in Boston in August and Chicago in September but with the covid crisis these walks were postponed until 2021, so of course I added the other two walks (Dallas & San Diego). Each walk requires me to raise $2300 in order to participate.  If you browse the following pages you will be able to see the kinds of crochet critters, FLOOZIES and other crocheted items I offer my donors as a gift for their donation.  I hope you will see something you like and make a donation so that I can continue to fund these ever important walks.  Breast cancer needs to be stopped and the proceeds of this fundraising go toward that goal.  Please help me reach my fundraising goal and put a stop to breast cancer.  You can contact me at donate@crochet4thecure.com
